Make a lasting difference to people living with sight loss across South West Cumbria
Our Friends of Vision Support group plays an essential role in ensuring we can continue supporting over 900 people who are blind or partially sighted in Barrow and District and across South West Cumbria.
By becoming a Friend, you’re not just donating — you’re joining a community of people who care deeply about improving lives, building independence, and creating a more inclusive society for those with vision impairments.
Why Your Support Matters
Every day, Vision Support Barrow and District provides vital services, including:
- Social and peer support groups
- Assistive technology guidance
- One-on-one advice and emotional support
- Our weekly Talking Newspaper
- Telephone befriending
- Accessible community activities
- Help with daily living skills
This life-enhancing work wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our Friends.
Impact in Action
In 2022, the Friends of Vision Support raised £7,500, directly funding local services and ensuring no one in our area has to face sight loss alone.
That’s enough to:
• Fund multiple social groups for isolated older adults
• Purchase accessible technology for people learning to live independently
• Maintain our Talking Newspaper service reaching over 200 listeners
• Train new volunteers to support our growing community
Your donation goes directly to work in your community.
