Building Confidence, Independence & Wellbeing
At Vision Support Barrow and District, we know that staying connected, active, and social is an important part of living well with sight loss. That’s why we run a variety of groups and activities throughout the week, month, and year.
Whether you’re looking for a friendly chat, a chance to try something new, or simply a space to relax and meet others, there’s something for everyone.
Why Join a Group?
Joining one of our groups is about more than just taking part in an activity – it’s about being part of a supportive community. Many of our members tell us that attending groups has:
• Reduced feelings of isolation – meeting people who understand your experiences.
• Boosted confidence – learning new skills or trying new activities in a safe and welcoming environment.
• Improved wellbeing – keeping the mind and body active through social and physical activities.
• Built friendships – creating lasting connections with people who share similar interests.
• Added variety – something to look forward to each week or month, with plenty of fun along the way.
Our groups are friendly, inclusive, and designed for everyone – whether you want to be hands-on, join in with activities, or simply enjoy the company of others.
Special Events & One-Off Activities
Alongside our regular groups, we also host a variety of special events and one-off activities throughout the year. These are a great chance to try something new, celebrate together, or enjoy a day out. Examples include:
• Guest speakers & live entertainment – from musicians and performers to inspiring talks.
• Day trips & outings – exploring local attractions and places of interest.
• Seasonal celebrations – such as Christmas parties, summer socials, or Easter gatherings.
• Workshops – opportunities to learn new skills or enjoy creative activities.
Events are announced in advance, and spaces are often limited – so keep an eye on our updates or contact the team to find out what’s coming up next.
